Glory and Perdition
(by T.A., Grande Rock 2004)
New album for the Hungarian atmospheric cult black metallers, Sear Bliss, which finds the band in a darker mood. Of course the atmospheric parts of the band are once more embellished by trumpet, trombone and synth but most of the songs have some high tempo parts with fast drumming and the known paranoid black vocals from Andras Nagy. I like Sear Bliss and I believe that "The Haunting" is by far their best album and it is very difficult to release something at least equal to that album. I also believe that Sear Bliss is one of the very few bands that plays black metal in such way and has fans not only from the black metal "society" but from other metal genres as well. "Glory And Perdition" has some very interesting atmospheric songs like "Birth Of Eternity", "Glory To Perdition", "Two Worlds Collide", "Shores Of Death" and "Blood Serenade" that will please not only the fans of the band but also the black metal fans in general. The production is also excellent and clear and the artwork is just wonderful. After all Sear Bliss is a high quality atmospheric black metal band that has not disappointed its fans in the past and I do not think that it will ever disappoint them. In this point I have to mention that the known Attila Csihar (Aborym, Mayhem) is participating on "Birth Of Eternity" and on "Shores Of Death". To cut it short, this album is recommended to all the black metal fans that like atmospheric and melodic elements in black metal. One of the best albums in atmospheric back metal music for 2004.
